Tip 1.
Get a travel card! With many businesses now accepting card payment, having a travel card can help reduce international transaction fees. It's also a good idea to carry multiple cards in case of ATM issues – I've seen ATMs occasionally 'eat' cards! BCA, Mandiri, HSBC, and BNI are reliable ATM options for cash withdrawals.

Tip 2.
Download the GoJek and/or Grab app before you come to Bali. These apps are the most affordable and convenient way to order transportation and food in Bali. Similar to Uber and UberEats, both Grab and Gojek offer transport and food delivery services. Choose the app that suits you best, or get both for maximum convenience!
Tip 3.
Download WhatsApp and create an account before your trip. It's the main form of communication within Bali, making it convenient to connect with new friends, drivers, and businesses. You can also use WhatsApp to verify accounts, such as for payments through Gojek or Grab. WhatsApp works over Wi-Fi, allowing you to make free calls and send messages without using cellular data.
Tip 4.
Bring mosquito repellent from home, especially if you're prone to mosquito bites. While insect repellent is available in Bali, it's a good idea to have your preferred product on hand. Mosquitoes are prevalent, especially around sunset, so applying repellent can help protect against insect bites and potential illnesses.
Tip 5.
Download offline Google Maps before your trip. This is incredibly useful, especially if you don’t have a SIM card or want to save on data usage. I recommend Google Maps because it typically has more locations and is more reliable than Apple Maps.
Step 1: Click on your profile picture
Step 2: Click ‘Offline maps’
Step 3: Click ‘Select your own map’
Step 4: Select the area that you want to download and then click ‘download’
