On the square just in front of it, tourists and locals can see the whole city. You will just stare at it for hours!
Also, if you're visiting in August, the Castle is the main focal point for fireworks displays closing the Edinburgh Festival

This place is magical in all its aspects. Be prepared, climbing on the top can be a challenge, but it's worth it! The view of the city from the top is unbelievable.
