Cartagena has 3 main neighborhoods: Bocagrande (beaches), Getsemani (more artistic with street arts) and the Historical Center (the more authentic part).

What to Do 🩴

The beaches in the city are not nice: dark sand, unattractive sea, many buildings (Bocagrande beach is the best known and most touristic).

The beaches near Cartagena, which can be reached by land or sea trips that take from half an hour to 2 hours, are worthwhile.

Playa Blanca Barú
@annatravelslocal
Really worth the trip. A LOT of vendors. To get to Playa Blanca, you need to take a taxi (about 15-25 USD, one way) or join some kind of guided tour transport.

Rosario Islands
@annatravelslocal
Rosario Islands are part of the only Natural Marine Park in Colombia. Isla Grande, besides being the largest of the Rosario islands, seems to me the most beautiful Tour 1: 5 Islands tour + lunch (bring your own alcohol) + Pablo Escobar fallen plane 60USD Tour 2: 5 Islands tour + lunch in a private island + plankton glowing in the sea in the dark of the night 80USD
