I stayed at both of these hostels in Porto and they pretty much feel like hotels. See which one is best for you!

The Passenger Hostel
@arthurcostamanso
This hostel is literally inside the São Bento train station. Super cool! Dorms go for 23-25 a night and they have a nice bar on the ground level. Staff is also extremely friendly! Also at reception, they have a grand piano that you can play.
In terms of activities, they offer surfing lessons, Douro River tours Red Bus tours, walking tours, family dinners, wine tours, pub crawls, and Tasca tours.
Room PROS: Lockers, curtains on beds, reading light, electrical socket
Room CON: triple bunk-beds. You better hope you’re not on the highest one!
Bathrooms are great with more than enough stalls, sinks and showers for everyone.
What I liked the most about the hostel is the building itself. Very grand and historic with long corridors and tall ceilings.
On the top floor, they have an incredible lounge area with all sorts of games and Netflix.
A complete breakfast is served every morning in the spacious kitchen area.
The Passenger also has the perfect location. Right in the city center! Very easy to walk everywhere from there.
Expect a younger crowd. Not party central but easy to meet other travelers.

The House of Sandeman - Hostel & Suites
@arthurcostamanso
Owned by the Port Wine brand Sandeman, this hostel is right there on the docks so incredible views! You also get a welcome drink upon arrival 🍹
Amazing facilities here. The building may have been an old factory so it’s incredibly large and spacious. Dorms go for 30 USD but you get a very comfy DOUBLE BED!
Room PROS: Lockers, electric plugs, reading light
The lounge area has a really homey vibe. You can watch TV and meet other travelers. Breakfast goes until 11h and you can watch the boats go by through the windows with a cup of coffee.
Expect an older crowd, couples and people looking to rest after doing the Camino de Santiago.
