Venice Guide for Families on a Budget

Venice Guide for Families on a Budget

The Boston Tribe Travels
Welcome to Venice, the enchanting city of canals, gondolas, and captivating history! Despite its reputation for crowds and expenses, this useful guide will help budget-conscious parents and families experience the best of Venice without breaking the bank. We are a full time travel family so there was no room for an extravagant itinerary. Here is how we made this destination work for a family of four travelling on a budget. With a mix of popular attractions, off-the-beaten-path gems, and kid-friendly activities, Venice can be an unforgettable adventure for all. We visited Venice after a two week campervan trip around northern Italy and it was a great way to end our trip in this iconic city.

When to visit

Consider visiting Venice during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to May) or autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant, and tourist crowds are more manageable. This will allow for a more comfortable exploration experience.

Where to stay

Accommodation: For families on a budget, consider staying at campsites or affordable lodging options on the outskirts of Venice. This can save you money while providing a peaceful retreat from the bustling city center.

Here are a few to get you started.

TOP TIP: Treasure Hunt:

Turn your exploration of Venice into a fun pirate treasure hunt! Create a list of landmarks or quirky statues for the kids to find as you navigate the city. Offer small rewards or treats for each "treasure" they discover. This game adds an exciting twist to sightseeing and keeps the kids engaged throughout the day.
