Capital of the Region:

Strasbourg
@czphoneshome
Strasbourg is the capital city of the region which also makes it the biggest. This city is also known as the Capital of Christmas. It has huge Christmas markets spread around the city which is definitely worth checking out! šŸŽ„

Larger town:

Colmar
@czphoneshome
Colmar is known for its adorable canals running through the town. The buildings are super colourful and cute and another perfect place to add to your itinerary! šŸ›¶ Definition of picture-perfect! Colmar is a larger town, not as big as Strasbourg but bigger than some of the other villages of the region. In the winter, you can find Colmar covered in Christmas lights and in the summer you can find it bathed in flowers!

My personal favourite village:

Riquewihr
@czphoneshome
Why do I consider Riquewihr my favourite village? 1. Walking in feels like you've entered a movie set or Disney world. 2. This town is believed to have inspired Disney's Beauty and the Beast (I can see why, it is the definition of a fairytale town). 3. It has a massive Christmas store! This town should not be skipped when you're visiting Alsace! āœØ Did you know its known as one of the most beautiful towns in France?

Other villages along the wine route:

Kaysersberg-Vignoble
@czphoneshome
Kayserberg is a medieval town that is nestled in the mountains with a river running through it. You can see these fantastic sites while wandering the streets. I really enjoyed this town as well because it feels much closer to nature! There is also a castle overlooking the town that you can walk to! šŸ°

Eguisheim
@czphoneshome
Eguisheim is clearly a very old town. The town is built in a circular shape and you can wander around the tiny streets for quite some time. The streets are super narrow and tight which is why to mean it feels super authentic and historical.

Obernai
@czphoneshome
This is another bigger town than some of the others in the region. You can still see and feel the medieval and Roman history of this town as its city wall is still intact! āš”ļø

RibeauvillƩ
@czphoneshome
This town is super close to Riquewihr and is another town known to be full of colour and flowers. šŸŒ¼ Every September, this town celebrates its medieval history with its Fiddler's Festival. There are plenty of other celebrations that take place here throughout the year! If you're in the area, check to see if any are going on!

Castle:

ChĆ¢teau du Haut-Kœnigsbourg
@czphoneshome
This medieval fortress located in the mountains is super cool! It's been around since the 12th century! šŸ° I've driven past it several times now and just haven't had the time to visit but it's on my list for sure for next time. I've heard nothing but great things!
