Discover the Magic of Dublin: Your Ultimate Guide to the Heart of Ireland's Capital!

Ireland is my favorite country in Europe, I can't lie. Having had the opportunity to travel a lot around the "Emerald Isle," I can assure you that the rainy days are not too bad (LoL). In reality, it doesn't rain that much. Dublin, (Átha Cliath in Irish language), Ireland's capital, is a lively and bustling city filled with people from all over the world. You'll encounter and hear different nationalities around, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Dublin boasts a rich and captivating history that spans over a thousand years. The 18th century marked a golden era for the city as it thrived culturally and economically. The Georgian architecture and literary heritage flourished during this time, with renowned figures like Jonathan Swift and Oscar Wilde leaving a lasting mark. Playing a significant role in the struggle for Irish independence during the 20th century, Dublin witnessed pivotal events such as the 1916 Easter Rising that shaped the nation's destiny. Today, the city seamlessly blends its historical charm with modern vibrancy, making it a must-visit destination for those eager to explore Ireland's intriguing past. In this guide, you'll find recommendations to fill up at least 4 days of your visit. Here, the focus is more on the not-so-well-advertised experiences because, for the "big" attractions, you can easily find recommendations anywhere. Have fun!

Killiney Hill
@TravelWithLeidi
Killiney Hill and Dalkey Hill together constitute Killiney Hill Park is public park that overlooks the villages of Dalkey and Killiney. This vantage point offers spectacular views of Dublin in all directions, particularly from the summit of the pyramid-shaped structure known as the "wishing stone" - legend has it that circling all levels of the pyramid, ascending to the highest pinnacle, and making a wish while facing St. Begnet's Oratory on Dalkey Island can make that wish come true. Do you wanna try it?

Travel Responsibly!

Support Local Businesses: Opt for local accommodations, restaurants, and shops to contribute directly to the community's economy. This helps sustain local livelihoods and fosters a more authentic travel experience.

Minimize Environmental Impact: Practice responsible environmental habits such as minimizing single-use plastics, conserving water and energy, and participating in local conservation efforts. Leave natural and cultural sites as you found them to preserve their integrity.

Choose Sustainable Transportation: Opt for eco-friendly transportation like public transport, cycling, or walking whenever possible. If you need to hire transportation, consider companies with environmentally conscious practices.

Engage in Responsible Wildlife Tourism: Avoid supporting activities that exploit or harm animals. Choose wildlife excursions and sanctuaries that prioritize the well-being and conservation of the animals.

Be Mindful of Waste: Dispose of waste properly and recycle when available. Carry a reusable water bottle and shopping bag to minimize single-use waste during your travels.

Learn and Educate: Take the time to learn about the destination's history, culture, and environmental challenges. Share this knowledge with fellow travelers to promote responsible tourism practices.

Conserve Energy: Conserve energy in your accommodation by turning off lights, air conditioning, and electronics when not in use. Opt for accommodations that have implemented energy-efficient practices.

Respect Wildlife and Nature: Keep a safe distance from wildlife, and refrain from disturbing natural habitats. Stay on designated trails when hiking and follow guidelines provided by local authorities.

Contribute Positively: Engage with the local community in a positive and meaningful way. If you have time, participate in responsible tourism initiatives, such as community-based projects or volunteering opportunities, to give back to the places you visit.
