10-day Luxe Italy Itinerary: Tuscany & Amalfi Coast
Days 1-2: Arrive in Florence
Besides seeing the popular attractions in Florence, kick off your honeymoon totally relaxed with a spa day at La Spa at Helvetia & Bristol. Enjoy a massage and a dip in the relaxing pools where the ancient Roman baths once stood. Some are still preserved.
Have a meal or aperitivo at Belmond Villa San Michele and watch the sun set over the Florentine skyline.
Days 3-4: Explore the Chianti Region
Hire a driver and guide who will line up personalized wine tastings and lunch in the spectacular rolling hills of the Chianti region, in the heart of Tuscany. Enjoy tastings and learn about different techniques of wine production in the Chianti region at Colle Bereto and the picturesque Querceto di Castellino.
Days 5-6: Try a pasta making class and enjoy the wines of Val d'Orcia
Make your next stop at the charming 12-room Lupaia or Rosewood’s breathtaking Castiglion del Bosco to further explore Tuscany and the Val d’Orcia region. On the way, make a stop in Pienza for lunch and to walk the old town. Hire a driver and guide who will line up another set of amazing wine tastings, and a pasta making class in a medieval castle.
On the other day, relax, take a dip in the pool and enjoy the Tuscan sun. If staying at Lupaia, say yes to Negroni hour and enjoy a home-cooked meal prepared by the staff in the cozy Tuscan kitchen.
Day 7: Make your way to the Amalfi Coast
Reserve a travel day to make your way down to the Amalfi Coast. You can take the train from Tuscany down to Naples or Salerno and have a car pick you up to drive you to your accommodations on the Amalfi Coast.
For the ultimate Amalfi Coast experience, stay at Le Sirenuse in Positano and experience the iconic views. More budget-friendly accommodations in Positano include Hotel Palazzo Murat and Hotel Marincanto. Alternatively, there are stunning accommodations in Ravello, like Palazzo Avino, or in Praiano, like Casa Angelina.
Day 8: Enjoy a quintessential day in Positano
After enjoying breakfast on the terrace, explore Positano’s little alleys and small boutique shops. If you’re interested in hiking, make your way to the Path of Gods. If the beach is more your thing, find a beach club with colorful umbrellas, like La Scogliera, for refreshing beverages, lunch and easy access to take a dip in the ocean.
Retreat after a day in the sun, and have a special dinner at Le Sirenuse’s La Sponda. Be sure to make reservations well in advance.
Day 9: Visit Ravello and Amalfi
A driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you on a tour of Ravello, Amalfi and Sorrento. In Ravello, make a stop at Villa Cimbrone and the romantic gardens of Villa Rufolo. I recommend hiring an experienced driver, as the roads along the coast are very narrow and windy.
For an easy hike, consider Sentiero dei Limoni, a walking path with a mix of villages and nature from Maiori to Minori (near Ravello) with little pathways and lemon groves. Next, wander through the streets of Amalfi, the city that gives the name to the entire magical coast.
Day 10: Have a boat day in Capri
Take a boat ride to Capri and see the Amalfi Coast from the water. Walk around, then enjoy lunch and drinks at JK Place Capri or Ristorante Panorama Capri.
Retreat back to Positano and have a special dinner on the terrace at Al Palazzo.
