Matera
@itslauraining
Matera is one of the oldest towns in Italy located in the Basilicata region on the border of Puglia. Its historic center is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This will be one of the most unique places you will ever visit! Known for its unique and ancient architecture, Matera is famous for its "Sassi" districts—stone cave dwellings carved into the mountainside that have been continuously inhabited for thousands of years. These ancient cave dwellings, which were used as homes, churches, and other buildings, create a maze-like network of narrow streets and alleyways, offering a glimpse into the town's rich and enduring history. Enjoy a picnic in an ancient cave with the region's traditional bread, cheese and wine.

Tropea
@itslauraining
Tropea is located on the southwestern coast of Calabria overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Here you will get the best of both worlds - city and sea. The town is famous for its beautiful beaches with fine, white sand and crystal-clear, turquoise waters set against a backdrop of dramatic cliffs that offer breathtaking views. The coastline is also dotted with hidden coves and grottoes, making it a popular destination for adventurers! The historic center is also an adventure, with a labyrinth of narrow, cobblestone streets lined with traditional Italian houses and quaint shops. Local Calabrian specialties such as 'nduja (a spicy spreadable salami), fresh seafood, and locally grown red onions, are a celebrated product of the region.

Trieste
@itslauraining
Trieste is a port city located near the border with Slovenia. Because of its location as a border city, it has a rich history influenced by various cultures and empires, including the Roman, Byzantine, and Austro-Hungarian. If you like architecture you will find a unique mix here inspired by the various cultures that occupied the area, positioned along a picturesque waterfront. The local cuisine is a blend of Italian and Central European influences. Try their seafood dishes, local coffee and pastries that are unique to the area.
