Dublin, Ireland

Dublin, Ireland

A full 3 day trip my wife and I did with two other couples, 6 people total. We walk most everywhere, about 10 miles a day. We traveled there in March 2020 (crazy story as the world shut down because of COVID while we were on our flight there) and April 2024. We did this trip with our Porto, Portugal trip (see bottom of page).

Day 1

Start at Temple Bar, walk a few blocks around the neighborhood then walk to the water across Ha'Penny Bridge. From here walk to Arbour Hill Cemetery then get lunch at Nancy Hands Bar & Restaurant. After lunch walk to Guinness Storehouse for a tour. Then walk and window shop your way to Kilmainham Gaol (arrive 30 min early).

Day 2

On Day 2 our group of 6 split into 2 groups. My wife and I had already been to the Cliffs of Moher so we did something else. You can pick one of the two or add another day to do both. The Cliffs are a must see though and full day trip.

Option 1- Cliffs of Moher- Must do!

Option 2

Take DART from Dublin Pearse to Malahide to see Malahide Castle and have lunch in town. When you're done take DART back to Tara Street. Once back in to Dublin walk or Uber to Jameson for a whiskey tour and walk to Phoenix Park to enjoy some greenery and structures such as Wellington Monument and Phoenix Monument. Enjoy dinner and drinks at the Piglet Wine Bar.

Day 3

Walk around Trinity College and go into the Library and Book of Kells. All 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed this because of the historical significance, preservation, and ease of visiting. After this walk over to Dublin Castle and Chester Beaty Library. You will pass the house of Parliament as you walk by. After taking a tour of Dublin Castle, walking the gardens and checking out the library (there is a museum inside and garden on the roof top) make your way to St. Patrick's cathedral. Stop by Christ Church Cathedral on your way to look at and grab something to eat on the go around there. After a free guided audio tour of the inside of St. Patrick's Cathedral walk to Stephen's Green to enjoy the park. The park has a duck lake, beautiful flowers and a playground full of children and families. To end the trip go to the National Museum of Ireland for free and dinner at ETTO (make a reservation!).

After our time in Dublin we went to Porto for a few days- check it out!

Liscannor, Ireland is a good estimate for the weather at the Cliffs of Moher and what they use on their website.
