Tulum, Mexico - a hidden gem on the coast of Mexico that's becoming more popular by the minute, and for good reason. Just a 2 hour drive down the coast from Cancun lies this beach town that's the perfect weekend getaway - or longer. If you want to just lie on the beach and relax, or pack your trip in with some adventures, this covers it all.
If you want to save a some money, you can most certainly stay in downtown or rent an Airbnb nearby, but the resorts on the beach cannot be beat. Once there, everything is within walking distance and you'll save some money on taxis anyways. Where ever you stay, the hotels likely have recommendations on car transportations from the airport for drop off. I highly recommend resev
I could rave about this place forever. This small, boutique eco-friendly hotel is right on the beach off the main road, but hidden away enough from the noise and crowds. It's the perfect relaxing getaway with the friendliest staff and freshest food. I have every intention of coming back.

The resorts below I personally haven't stayed at (yet) but they come highly recommended from friends that I know have visited!
One of the resorts that's relatively popular, right on the beach off the main road and easy walking distance to the other resorts and restaurants near by.
The food, the drinks, the ambiance. Everything about this restaurant is superb. The soft-shell crab taco was something completely new and I highly recommend ordering it!
If beach club hopping suits your fancy, these resorts all along the water and easy to hop from one to the other. There likely will be an entry fee though!
Tulum is known for the cenotes. There are several around town, but these are considered the most popular. The top two I would say are Dos Ojos (two eyes) and Gran Cenotes. I would highly recommend getting there earlier, ideally in the morning, if possible. That way you can avoid the large crowds by the end of the day.
This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its pristine beauty makes it extremely peaceful. There are full day tours (which include snorkeling) or half-day tours if you're on a tight schedule. There's a sunset tour with kayaking that comes highly recommended.
Arguably one of the site-seeing activities you'll see on several tour guides as something you should do.

There are also several other activities you can do, and group tours that will help you squeeze as much in as possible. I would recommend reaching out where you're staying as they'll likely know the best tour guides that will come and pick you up at the hotel you're staying at.
Hi there! I'm based in Los Angeles, but love to travel. My life goal is to see as much of the world as possible. All my travel itineraries are based off my own personal research, travels, and experiences. I've been to 35+ countries and still counting. I love experiencing the finer aspects of travel, but certainly won't shy away from budget options if they come highly recommended. All in all, I value experiences and memories over everything else. Hope you enjoy and have as wonderful of a time as I did!
