Local’s Guide to New Haven Pizza
Local’s Guide to New Haven Pizza
Chelsea Papa
The shortest but mightiest travel collection in my arsenal. New Haven, my hometown, is synonymous with Yale and good pizza. Some would say America’s best pizza. Sorry, New Yorkers 😉 These are my top 4 favorite pizza places in town.
Tip: When in New Haven, just order pizza and wash it down with foxon park white birch beer. Skip the entrees and sides, if they’re even on the menu. And make sure to order mozzarella aka “mootz” if you want it on your pizza.

🍕 Pepe’s
@Chelsea
The most famous pizzeria in New Haven, Pepe’s consistently ranks among the top pizza places in America and is best known for their white clam pie.

🍕 Sally's
@Chelsea
Ask a local what their favorite pizza place is and they will usually say either Sally’s or Pepe’s. It’s an endless debate that has sparked many arguments over the years! The plain pizza with just tomato sauce is the signature pie here.

🍕 BAR
@Chelsea
The local favorite mashed potato pizza at BAR breaks with tradition. I usually prefer the classics, but I still love eating here when I’m looking for something different. The Buffalo chicken is good too!

🍕 Modern Apizza
@Chelsea
I love their charred paper thin crust pizzas topped with either pepperoni or meatball. The Italian Bomb is the signature pie.
Modern is known to be a little bit less consistent than other options, but I’ve never been disappointed!
