A guide to Vienna

A guide to Vienna

Alexandra Araújo
As the capital of Austria, Vienna is a combination of architecture, music and all kinds of art. As a destination, Vienna has been on my bucket list for a long time, and now that the opportunity to go there finally arrived, I car share my experience with you. In this guide you will be able to know Vienna as a first-timer much like I was.

Before the trip

If you're anything like me it's not a real trip if you did't visit any museums. Luckily in Vienna there is something called the Vienna Pass. With the Vienna Pass you have free entry to 90 attractions all over the city, plus the Hop On Hop Off buses, which will save you a lot of money.

You can buy it for 1, 2, 3 or 6 consecutive days.

You can buy your Vienna Pass here:

Once you buy it, you receive on your email the pass, and you can also download a printable guide and the timetables for the Hop On Hop Off buses.

Almost all of the activities that I did were included in the Vienna Pass; however, I advise you to check out the list of everything that's included so that you can adapt your trip to what interests you.

Day One

The Schönbrunn Palace is an immense property, with gardens, a Zoo, the prince's private gardens, an orangerie, the Labyrinth, the Imperial Carriage Museum, and a Gloriette. I chose to visit it on day one because it was the furthest away from the City center.

The Schönbrunn Palace was the summer residence of Empress Maria Theresa, and the glamorous center of court life. With Vienna Pass, you have access to the State Appartments. You must get a free ticket at the ticket counter with a fixed time slot.
