Free 3 day last minute quick itinerary to Taormina & Mount Etna, Sicily
Day 1 landing in Sicily:
To get to Taormina you would need to catch a flight to Catania Fontanarossa “Vincenzo Bellini” International airport. It is about a 1 hour drive to Taormina, so if possible it would be best to catch a flight early in the morning.
You can check any available flights here:
Once you arrive in Taormina you can checkin to this lovely B&B where we stayed at:
If you find that it's not your style, not to worry! We looked up a few other places before we got to choose the Venere B&B in Castelmola. Here were our next top choices:
After Checking in:
We went shopping and walking around the Taormina Centre:
Day 2 in Taormina:
We started the day by walking around the beautiful Castelmola centre. This is a small village above the town of Taormina, it is filled with many antique shops and old path ways. You can also see the view of Mount Etna!
Later on we headed to the stunning Villa Comunale di Taormina. It is a beautiful park near the city centre. It has so much history and in it you can find an ancient theatre.
We then took a late lunch at this beautiful restaurant. It has a magnificent view of the sea and the service is simply amazing! It is just a few minutes walk from the Villa Comunale di Taormina.
Other Restaurant Reccomendations:
We then went straight to the beach! Winter or summer Taormina's beaches are too great to miss out on. We had went during December for our stay and still the weather was always sunny!
We started from walking all around the Spiaggia mazzarò bay.
From there we took the cable car up to this historic centre which is only a few minutes walk from the beach.
Day 3 Mount Etna:
After checking out we were off to the famous Mount Etna!
To go to Mount Etna from Taormina you can take a train to Catania, then transfer to the AST bus to Rifugio Sapienza.
However, we booked a personal driver that would take us to Mount Etna and drive us back to the airport later on the day (so he would be with us all day).
He is a great friend of ours and a trusted driver for whenever we go to Sicily. If you would like further information about our driver feel free to reach out to me for his contact details!
Sicily is always a good idea for a quick getaway!
