I spent 5 weeks between Salta & Jujuy with my jaw dropped on the floor, in awe of all the naturual beauty it has to offer. Before I went north, I had a really hard time finding information on what to do, where to go, even the best towns to stop in. I want to make that easier for you with this guide to Argentina's northern provinces of Salta & Jujuy. A lot of people come through Purmamarca, Argentina on a day trip, and some others might spend one or two nights here. I stayed an entire week! Since my guest house only provided breakfast, and didn’t allow us to use the kitchen otherwise, I ate out all my lunches and dinners. I tried my best to go to a new restaurant for each meal. While certain things seem to be slightly more expensive in Purmamarca, such as lodging and laundry, the food prices tend to compare quite nicely to the rest of the region. Patagonia, Salta, and a little Buenos Aires. When flying within the country from Buenos Aires, you can use the Newberry Aeroparque airport (AEP) inside the city rather than the international airport (EZE) which is about an hour outside. Money tips: Bring USD and exchange locally at the “blue rate” which is 2x the official rate. As of Dec 2022 credit cards (at least visa) are also charging at the blue rate, which makes travel way easier! If not, you can also send yourself money using the Western Union website which has a rate closer to the blue rate. The Remitly app is also a good option if you need to make a cash deposit for anything.

Spending my university life in Argentina gave me the chance to travel for years around the Country where all nature unites. Glaciers, jungles, deserts, whales, 7000m volcanoes. All united within a single Country. This map might be the biggest I have ever made so far (also considering how big is this country).
