I prefer to stay longer lengths in places instead of having a whirlwind sightseeing venture. I'll skip the chain restaurants for a hole-in-the-wall café any day of the week. I prefer a loose itinerary and remain open to what each day brings. My favorite things to do and see as I travel are... - EAT - Try whatever is local. Order the special of the day. Talk with the restaurant staff. - WALK - It encourages me to slow down, notice, and get a feel for community. - HIKE - I'm a lazy hiker. By "hike," I mean a few hours at a slow pace. - MUSEUMS - Spend an afternoon. Read the descriptions on exhibits. Talk with the docents. Buy something in the giftshop. - CHURCHES - I'm fascinated by the various ways people have worshipped the God of the Bible over centuries and across borders. Many older churches are also museums or tourist-friendly spaces. Some additionally hold regular liturgical services. - CASTLES - Castles, fortresses, palaces, big ol' houses: these places transport me back in time. My ideal day in a new city involves wandering the streets of a new neighborhood to get a feel for its energy, ducking into an art gallery or museum to see something inspiring, and then stopping for an afternoon coffee and chocolate chip cookie. At night, you'll more likely find me in a cocktail bar than a club. I also love to hike, camp, and be near the ocean! I lived for 8 years in San Francisco, and spent extended time in Lima, Peru and Mombasa, Kenya. Even though I've moved back to my hometown of Washington, DC, I still stay up to date on the SF food scene and travel back often for work! I'm pretty tapped into the DC food and coffee scene. Hey! I'm Sasha and I'm an avid traveler. I find a place I like and I explore it until there is nothing left to explore. Since 2022, that place has been Portugal (and the Azores Islands), where I have travelled at every opportunity I get - six times thus far. I have explored a different location/aspect/travel modality each time. From taking trains to get around the country, to renting a manual transmission car and getting stuck in the summer heat on an uphill off-the-map backroad of a vineyard in the Douro, to cycling from Lisbon to Sintra on three broken gears - I've done it all. I mostly travel solo and I'm usually on a budget (the cheaper I can travel, the more I travel!), but I'll invest more money for the right experience (Hot Air Baloon in Cappadocia, I'm looking at you!). In every job I've been at, I was known as the "crazy traveler" - you know that person that lands at 5am on a Monday and is in the office at 9am? or the one jetting off for the 2 days weekend every other week? Or the one that always comes back with some crazy stories? all of the above... it's me! I would like to think I’m quite a curious and adventurous person and I’m always up for trying new things, discover new foods and meet new people. There are not many things I wouldn’t be willing to try and I can’t think of any while writing this. I enjoy exploring new places, discovering new cultures and trying the local foods, but I also enjoy a good hike, a day by the beach and a crazy adventure! I strongly believe I should have been born a mermaid as I absolutely love the water, I’m a scuba diver 🤿 and I’m currently certifying as a free diver 🧜🏻‍♀️ . Danish, spontaneous, adventurous and down to earth. Hi ya! I have been traveling as much as I could since 2020 - Yep I started traveling the most during COVID. But you know what? It actually wasn't that bad. I got to live in England and France during COVID so even though it wasn't the best time to travel I decided to make lemonade ;) Since then I have done a few backpacking travels and I am currently in New Zealand. I love exploring new countries and learn about their culture. Besides that I am a sucker for sunsets and adrenalin filled experiences! I mostly travel like a fancy budgetter🥴 I don't have a lot of money to spend on fancy hotels, dinner outs or massages alle the time, BUT I think it is important to treat yourself and buy that fancy hotel if that's what you need and can afford. I have been using the most disgusting toilets, slept with cockroaches in a floating house, endured the worst thunder and lightning in a night bus and having the worst hangovers before going on a hike. All of this is surrealistic to look back on, but in that moment it just was like that. You can't really prepare to go take a shit in a hole almost standing up. It just happens if you really have to. - Sorry for the nasty images in your head. I'm just trying to say that traveling is to me so much more than just going to a beach with the clearest blue water or watching the sunset with a cocktail in your hand. I have personally evolved and exceeded limits I never thought I would have to all thanks to being able to travel to other countries. Even though I might've scared you a bit, I promise, it's all worth it. I'm here to help you through the good and the not as good parts of traveling to other countries, but first, I need to ensure that you're prepared, confident, courageous, enthusiastic, and ready to go get the world.

I had no job, and no plan, but just enough ambition to try something new that got me out of my comfort zone. It wasn't long after arriving in Los Angeles that I discovered my passion for traveling, adventure, and being outdoors.
