I create what I call "unhinged map" of all the locations I go to. I know realistically there is no way to get to every location in one trip, but it is nice to know what to do when you find yourself dropped in any location. I like to have options for what to do with any given day. If it is raining or a bright sunny day, I will provide you with options for both. Maybe you slept in and now had to change plans - got you covered. Or those big plans you made before you arrived now seem far fetched after a couple of cocktails by the pool the day before, great lets make it a lazy day, but still enjoyable. A map serves more like a suggestion than a hard and fast itinerary and is a great casual way to explore on your trip.
