Hi, I am Jiun-Wei from Tainan, Taiwan. I have been living in the UK for around a year. Over the past year, I have traveled to 19 countries on the European continent with a backpack. Overall, I have visited nearly 35 countries around the world since I was a child. Old towns, atmosphere, local food in the alleyways, architecture, etc., always bring me inexplicable peace. I am a slow traveller. I prefer immersing myself in every new place and discovering it for myself. This gives me plenty of time to connect with the locals and long term travellers, follow my whims and come across places that are not mentioned on the tourist trail. With me you will never hear about the "most popular" spots in a place unless the said spot it truly exceptional.

I moved to Madrid, Spain in summer 2021 from San Francisco, California. I came to Spain for the first time in 2019 and quickly fell in love with the place. I quickly decided to relocate here permanently. I love showing friends around new places that seem to be cropping up every day here. In my first 9 months here, I had 15 friends visit me from abroad (mostly the US) and afterwards, in the interest of efficiency, I wrote a 5-page informal Google Doc to share amongst my friends. This quickly morphed into a more comprehensive guide that I've posted on Thatch. I continue showing friends, family, and friend of friends around Madrid. I've hosted upwards of 30 visitors now including friends with babies, vegetarians, and quick day trippers.

For half the year I saved up a ton of money and became more and more interested in traveling. After the holidays I took my savings and set off to Spain and travelled around Europe. After backpacking through Europe I realized that I had found my passion!
