Lives in Palermo, PA, Italy
An Italian-American from Brooklyn, former NY ad exec turned expat, I left everything I had behind to start a new life here in Italy. And now I am finally doing something meaningful and that I love - connecting those visiting Italy to the most authentic people, places and passionate local experts, making sure their experience is as authentic as it is unique and unforgettable. I created my unique travel service so people can discover Italy for REAL (hence the name I chose "davvero" (which loosely translates to "really" or "for real" in Italian) Davvero Italy is slow travel & sustainable tourism redefined, promoting respectful and responsible travel that is low impact. Where you're not only supporting Italian local businesses but in some cases helping the actual towns in which they live in - and every interaction is a positive one where meaningful connections are made for a lifetime. Experience Italy not only through the eyes of a local but actually with locals. This is the only way to discover the heart and soul of the country – by interacting with the natives and having them introduce you to their home. This is Italy - for real. I am passionate about all things Italian...especially when it comes to food & drink. When I'm not roaming around Italy to check out new people & places, I'm writing about it on my Davvero Blog. I’ve also managed to become part of the close-knit and beautiful bar community in Rome and Italy, which is another project I am working on currently…

Ann-Sofie Remaut
Lives in Ypres, BelgiĂŤ
Hi there lovely souls! My name is Ann-Sofie (but everybody calls me Anso), I would describe myself as an easy-going, adventurous and spontaneous human being. I am 26 years old and I live with my boyfriend and two dogs in Belgium. In our spare time we are always exited to explore parts of this wonderful globe, with and without the dogs :'). We love exploring Europe with our rooftop tent and recently we've been to our first Asia trip to the Philippines. My travel journey started back in January 2022 where I did my first solo trip to Portugal. After that trip, it felt like something changed. I felt totally recharged. Now I remind myself to that feeling and I continue to book these solo trips now and then. You learn SO much about yourself, about your values and beliefs, your strengths and weaknesses. It's a never ending journey. Whenever I travel, I prefer exploring off the beaten tracks and to spend as much time as possible in nature (beaches, mountains, the ocean, hiking ...) but I also enjoy local authentic villages. I love to try new things, but I always need to push myself a bit. On the other side I also love to take some deep inner rest and to focus on my wellbeing. I recently started a travel Instagram with my boyfriend @soulfuljourneys_be - feel free to give us a follow. We help personalizing your trip and give you some raw travel content. Other than that, we love sharing a glimpse of our life. For me, travelling will always be a way to get out of my comfort zone. To learn about new cultures, talking to local people, trying out new things and taking time to sit and reflect with my thoughts. I am so eager to find the most authentic places that touches your soul. So it happens quite often that I plan last minute and impulsive trips. I do research to save places on Google Maps. Most importantly is that I always try to avoid the touristy places, because in the end those are not the places you will remember for a lifetime.

Jesse James Johnson
Lives in Kalamata, Grecia
Hey I'm Jesse :)! I am an open-minded really curious guy who seeks to expand his comfort zone continuously, I am really passionate about life itself! I actually like a lot of things, apart and within traveling, I love to learn, love trying new things, love to eat, drink and cook, love sports, love to study, learn and apply. Love to get to know the World, their people and their cultures. I love to share what I can to make places a better place... I've covered several cities and small towns across 39 countries exploring, and my last trip started 17 months ago and counting. Some years before I used to connect European Travelers with Indigenous Communities Destination in Panama. I consider my travel style to be a good balance between, getting lost in things that people usually passed on, but are truly worth stopping by! BUT--- without missing the major landmarks of the place... I like the feeling of finding a nice "not usual" place and to be the only traveler there, full of locals, trying to remain the most "localish" possible to see the true colors and behaviors of some spots... On my trips I usually adapt either to a slow pace (as sometimes I make places my base, because I work remotely), which provides a lot of time to explore, or to a pre-determined shorter time. (from a Day-trip all over to 2 or 3 weeks) What I truly believe is part of me, is the skill to adapt to different environments with ease, and after a couple of days feel myself like at home, I genuinely feel lucky about that I can travel and connect with the world, and I would like to help more people to do it! Go for your dreams my friend!✨

Lives in Paris, France
Hello et bonjour ! I'm (another) American in Paris. I've lived in France since 2016 and I loooove sharing my Paris & France recs in hopes I can help others love this city and country as much as I do. I'm quite confident I've seen more of France than most French people, so no matter what you're looking for, I've (probably) done it! ✅ What I'm a great fit for: Mature travelers, couples, solo travelers, and families who enjoy soaking in authentic experiences, great food and wine, off-the-beaten-track gems, classic sites, and sustainable travel. 🌱 What's sustainable travel about? Traveling in a way that is kind to the environment, respectful of local culture, & supportive of the local economy. My trip-planning services are always through a sustainable lens. ❌ What I'm not a great fit for: Travelers focused on bars/clubbing or high-end shopping. ➡️ Follow me on TikTok, Instagram & Pinterest @hilaryinparis for Paris & France recommendations, tips, personal stories, and more. 🌍 PS: I'm on Thatch because I genuinely love sharing France with folks. My day job is running Yugen Earthside, a booking platform for responsible package trips primarily catering to groups of mature American travelers. My company's website is linked below.

Samara
Lives in Seoul, South Korea
Hi, I'm Samara. I have lived in Seoul, South Korea for almost 6 years now. With a genuine passion for travel deeply woven into the fabric of my personal and professional life, my love for exploring new cultures has been a driving force throughout my career as a Kindergarten Teacher. My extensive travels across Europe, East Asia, and the United States, coupled with my innate curiosity, have not only enriched my own experiences but have also equipped me with a unique set of cross-cultural communication skills. I am excited to fuse my love for travel and turn it into a career. I have curated a journal of everything travel and beauty in South Korea, from Seoul, Busan, to Jeju and beyond. I have travelled extensively throughout Europe, East Asia, and the United States, planning and booking each trip independently. As a solo traveler, I have cultivated a unique perspective on the intricacies of travel, from understanding diverse cultures to navigating various logistical challenges. As a solo expat moving to a new country it can be a scary and lonely start. The benefits though are finding cute cafĂŠs, bars, restaurants and more on my solo exploring of my new home base. You may rest assured that my recommendations are not only safe but tried and tested by me personally. So whether you're on a solo mission, with your family or friends, you can focus on enjoying your time exploring your destination. Because your safety and ease of mind is priceless.
