As you wander through its streets, it’s like stepping into a living story, with ancient ruins casually appearing around modern cafes. The Acropolis isn’t just a relic; it’s a place where you can almost feel the ancient world still buzzing, even in the middle of a lively city. The food here is like a conversation with the past. A simple souvlaki from a street vendor feels like a bite of something timeless, and those cozy little tavernas? They’re where you really feel the heart of Athens—warm, welcoming, and full of life. But it’s the people who truly make Athens special. There’s a genuine warmth that makes you feel instantly at home, as if the city itself is inviting you to be part of its story. Have a weekend to spend in the city by the Bay? Here are a few great ideas. Some standard tourist stuff (they’re crowded for a reason) and other local fare. Such a good city to eat and walk. Bring a coat, especially in summer, or you’re gonna end up with one of those tourist SF fleeces!

While this is still a largely undiscovered part of the world by most foreigners, it's widely known as a culinary mecca for everyone with an interest in food and food culture. Basque cuisine is renowned worldwide for being some of the most visionary and avant-garde in the industry, and food as a whole is an extremely important part of Basque culture. There's so much more to do in the Basque Country than just enjoying the food though! The entire region is truly a gift to the planet in terms of natural beauty, being nestled between mountains and the sea. Basques have been fishers and mountain climbers, sailing the seas and scaling mountains, while also developing some of the strongest industry in Southern Europe. Follow this itinerary for an incredible, ultra-detailed 1-week road trip in some of the most beautiful landscapes in America.
