Hi, I'm Adeline! I fell in love with Japan on my first trip there in 2013. I was lucky enough to be able to move to Fukuoka, in western Japan, in 2014. I started a fitness studio, where I led group hikes in the countryside and taught yoga classes in English to a mix of locals and expats. In my free time, I loved going to onsen, Japanese hot springs, and learning about the traditional tea ceremony. My husband and I met and married in Japan, then moved to Colorado in 2018 where I spent several years working for InsideJapan Tours as a Travel Consultant. I started Savor and Soak Travel Co. because I have a passion travel and love talking all things Japanese culture, food, and language. I moved to Madrid, Spain in summer 2021 from San Francisco, California. I came to Spain for the first time in 2019 and quickly fell in love with the place. I quickly decided to relocate here permanently. I love showing friends around new places that seem to be cropping up every day here. In my first 9 months here, I had 15 friends visit me from abroad (mostly the US) and afterwards, in the interest of efficiency, I wrote a 5-page informal Google Doc to share amongst my friends. This quickly morphed into a more comprehensive guide that I've posted on Thatch. I continue showing friends, family, and friend of friends around Madrid. I've hosted upwards of 30 visitors now including friends with babies, vegetarians, and quick day trippers.

Welcome to my (and hopefully our) adventures! I have lived all over the United States, and I have a passion for the outdoors and budget-travel. Most recently, I lived in my car for over seven months, while I visited every National Park in the lower 48. I hiked, camped, met amazing people, and hiked some more. I got to experience the parks like a local, because I had no timetable, no flights to catch, no rental car to return, etc. Some parks I stayed only for a few hours, and others for over a week. I chatted with park rangers, stayed with people that lived nearby, and camped with others at some amazing campsites. The travel guides I share give you an "insider" look at the national park, with tips for the best hikes, tricks for finding campsites (but I always include hotel options too), as well as information about the various aspects of the parks.
