Hello Gluten-Free Travelers! I am Karen Horan and I landed in Singapore in 2011 with a hungry celiac child and gluten intolerant husband. I knew how to do gluten-free in the USA, but Singapore was a whole different place. I spent the first few months checking out grocery stores, wet markets, and hawker centers. I asked questions at restaurants and left disappointed. I researched blogs and articles only to find out the information was out of date. A year after arrival, I started a support group to connect gluten-free expats and locals with friends and resources. We have now been in Singapore for over 12 years. Danish, spontaneous, adventurous and down to earth. Hi ya! I have been traveling as much as I could since 2020 - Yep I started traveling the most during COVID. But you know what? It actually wasn't that bad. I got to live in England and France during COVID so even though it wasn't the best time to travel I decided to make lemonade ;) Since then I have done a few backpacking travels and I am currently in New Zealand. I love exploring new countries and learn about their culture. Besides that I am a sucker for sunsets and adrenalin filled experiences! I mostly travel like a fancy budgetter🥴 I don't have a lot of money to spend on fancy hotels, dinner outs or massages alle the time, BUT I think it is important to treat yourself and buy that fancy hotel if that's what you need and can afford. I have been using the most disgusting toilets, slept with cockroaches in a floating house, endured the worst thunder and lightning in a night bus and having the worst hangovers before going on a hike. All of this is surrealistic to look back on, but in that moment it just was like that. You can't really prepare to go take a shit in a hole almost standing up. It just happens if you really have to. - Sorry for the nasty images in your head. I'm just trying to say that traveling is to me so much more than just going to a beach with the clearest blue water or watching the sunset with a cocktail in your hand. I have personally evolved and exceeded limits I never thought I would have to all thanks to being able to travel to other countries. Even though I might've scared you a bit, I promise, it's all worth it. I'm here to help you through the good and the not as good parts of traveling to other countries, but first, I need to ensure that you're prepared, confident, courageous, enthusiastic, and ready to go get the world.

Hi! I'm a ninteen year old girl whose hobby is traveling. You might think that I'm a little too young to know stuff about traveling and to give out advice, but I've been traveling since I was a little girl, because even though I was born and raised in Italy, I'm also half bulgarian from my dad's side, so, since I can remember, we've been going to Bulgaria at least once a year. Also, my family has always been keen on traveling and whenever we had the chance we would go away even just for a few days. I started traveling alone when I was about fifteen years old, just by going to a friend's house, and then the next year I got on a plane all alone for the first time (and haven't stopped since). I think that you guys should trust me with advice because that's honestly all I can give you, all my facts are based on experience and I wouldn't want you to miss out on what a place might offer; plus, I really love helping people and it brings me a lot of joy when they benefit from my advice, in the end it's like I also benefit, because I think that every experience, even just a small interaction with a person can be life changing.
