Hi, I'm Maëlys and I've always had a passion for travel. From a very young age, I've been immersed in the world of travel. Following my studies in the tourism sector and my ever-increasing desire to leave home, I decided to take the plunge into the unknown in 2022. I set off with my rucksack to Central America, with nothing planned and travelling solely by public transport. All in all, 8 months of travelling, 6 countries crossed, a few voluntary jobs and a lot of memories. Since then, I've also visited some of Europe's capital cities and I don't intend to stop there. The words that define me: are spontaneous, adventurous, thirsty for discovery, enthusiastic and always on the go. Travelling is a passion that allows me to discover the beauty of the whole world and the different cultures that inhabit it, as well as meet incredible people along the way. The idea for this blog and travel planner was born during my travels. I noticed that on the one hand, I had a lot of questions about travelling alone, especially as a woman, and on the other, I had a lot of tourist-related questions about where to go and what to visit, so I decided to launch Maelys' Travels to bring it all together. My studies and professional experience in the tourism sector have also helped me to structure my itineraries.

I mostly travel by using the public transport, that is in my opinion the best way to discover a new city or country. You get to see a lot of the environment while going from place to place. 📍Tambre, BL - Italy “You’ll never know how beautiful is to travel alone until you do it!” Yes, it’s true. There is some kind of magic about travelling alone, you have nobody with you to talk with, you are alone with yourself, with your mind and with your heart. You can feel the the freedom in everysingle thing you find on your journey, in the blowing wind that uncomb your hair, in the music coming out from a crowded pub or in the noisy main street traffic of a big city, in the silence of an empty train station of a countryside small village or in the sound of the ocean while walking on a coast path with only the seagulls over your head. When I travel I like to feel the nature and the true spirit of a place, I like to walk, to see the little streets of a town, to get into a pub and have a beer or stop for a coffee, to see every unknown corner of that place, and most of all to see places that make me feel in connection with God. From the cliffs on the ocean to the top of a hill, from the last floor of a skyscraper to an old boat moored on a river. I also like to eat and drink, I often want to try the local dishes in the day and, as for now I work as a prfessional barman, sometimes to go for a cocktail tour in the night. My favorite destinations are the main cities of the Country I'm visiting and the small villages near the ocean! I live in Tambre, a small village in the venetian Alps. I traveled a lot in Ireland and UK, but also in northern France, Lithuania, Dubai and around Italy. I speak Italian and conversational in English.

It's me, hi! 👋 I am Alessia, an Italian living in Oxford since 2019. During the day I work as a Nurse in an International College and at night I am a National League volleyball player 👩‍⚕️🏐 I have been infected with the travel bug by my parents who decided to take me around Europe on their campervan for all my childhood. I had the chance to experience lots of different cultures and enjoy local food, activities and people. When I was old enough, I packed my bags and moved across the Ocean for 13 months living the American Dream as an AuPair. During those months I travelled to 22 states and checked lots of things off my bucket list. I then finally moved to the UK where I have been able to enjoy amazing campsites and road trips throughout the island. Hi! We are Katie and Joe! We quit the corporate life in 2022 after a decade of global advertising and photography experience to travel the world. We converted a 2022 Ford Transit Van to be our mobile home on wheels. Since we completed Clifford (he's big and red), we've been to Colorado, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Utah, Oregon, Washington, up the Alaskan Highway, and into Alaska. We are on a quest to see all 63 US National Parks, so far we've seen 41 in 2023 and more to come. We were both raised in Colorado but have spent the past 10 years bouncing around New York City, NY, Berlin, Germany, Detroit, Michigan. While those are fantastic places filled with wonderful memories, we are happy to be closer to our families in Colorado. We've been traveling together for almost 15 years (yikes!) and have seen 30+ countries together. From Japan to Portugal and almost anywhere between, we've seen a lot! But we know there is so much more to see.
