Working as an international teacher has given me a different perspective in advising longer trips to Costa Rica. I've learned many tips and tricks for finding community, getting around without a car, leasing an apartment, learning Spanish, renting a vehicle, and surviving in the hot province of Guanacaste. It's very important to me, as a traveler, that I understand the cultural context of the country I am traveling to. My goal is to help my clients feel comfortable and confident in Costa Rica, while respecting this country's unique norms and culture. I knew how to do gluten-free in the USA, but Singapore was a whole different place. I spent the first few months checking out grocery stores, wet markets, and hawker centers. I asked questions at restaurants and left disappointed. I researched blogs and articles only to find out the information was out of date. A year after arrival, I started a support group to connect gluten-free expats and locals with friends and resources. We have now been in Singapore for over 12 years. You might think that I'm a little too young to know stuff about traveling and to give out advice, but I've been traveling since I was a little girl, because even though I was born and raised in Italy, I'm also half bulgarian from my dad's side, so, since I can remember, we've been going to Bulgaria at least once a year. Also, my family has always been keen on traveling and whenever we had the chance we would go away even just for a few days. I started traveling alone when I was about fifteen years old, just by going to a friend's house, and then the next year I got on a plane all alone for the first time (and haven't stopped since). I think that you guys should trust me with advice because that's honestly all I can give you, all my facts are based on experience and I wouldn't want you to miss out on what a place might offer; plus, I really love helping people and it brings me a lot of joy when they benefit from my advice, in the end it's like I also benefit, because I think that every experience, even just a small interaction with a person can be life changing.

I got to experience the parks like a local, because I had no timetable, no flights to catch, no rental car to return, etc. Some parks I stayed only for a few hours, and others for over a week. I chatted with park rangers, stayed with people that lived nearby, and camped with others at some amazing campsites. The travel guides I share give you an "insider" look at the national park, with tips for the best hikes, tricks for finding campsites (but I always include hotel options too), as well as information about the various aspects of the parks.
