Hey! I'm Sasha and I'm an avid traveler. I find a place I like and I explore it until there is nothing left to explore. Since 2022, that place has been Portugal (and the Azores Islands), where I have travelled at every opportunity I get - six times thus far. I have explored a different location/aspect/travel modality each time. From taking trains to get around the country, to renting a manual transmission car and getting stuck in the summer heat on an uphill off-the-map backroad of a vineyard in the Douro, to cycling from Lisbon to Sintra on three broken gears - I've done it all. Growing up my family took us on a month long roadtrip round the country every year. As an adult I get out and explore every chance I can! In particular I love outdoor experiences, hiking, kayaking, and seeing the beauty of New Zealand. My favourite part of the country is probably Mount Aspiring National Park. Female Solo Traveler | Traveling on a Budget Scuba Diving | Outdoors Adventures Hello!! I’m Luna 🌙 and I'm a little addicted to discovering the world, both above and below the water! I mostly travel solo and I'm usually on a budget (the cheaper I can travel, the more I travel!), but I'll invest more money for the right experience (Hot Air Baloon in Cappadocia, I'm looking at you!). In every job I've been at, I was known as the "crazy traveler" - you know that person that lands at 5am on a Monday and is in the office at 9am? or the one jetting off for the 2 days weekend every other week? Or the one that always comes back with some crazy stories? all of the above... it's me! I would like to think I’m quite a curious and adventurous person and I’m always up for trying new things, discover new foods and meet new people. There are not many things I wouldn’t be willing to try and I can’t think of any while writing this. I enjoy exploring new places, discovering new cultures and trying the local foods, but I also enjoy a good hike, a day by the beach and a crazy adventure! I strongly believe I should have been born a mermaid as I absolutely love the water, I’m a scuba diver 🤿 and I’m currently certifying as a free diver 🧜🏻‍♀️ . While I wait for my mermaid tail to grow, I want to see as much as possible of the land-based world. Hi, I'm Maëlys and I've always had a passion for travel. From a very young age, I've been immersed in the world of travel. Following my studies in the tourism sector and my ever-increasing desire to leave home, I decided to take the plunge into the unknown in 2022. I set off with my rucksack to Central America, with nothing planned and travelling solely by public transport. All in all, 8 months of travelling, 6 countries crossed, a few voluntary jobs and a lot of memories. Since then, I've also visited some of Europe's capital cities and I don't intend to stop there. The words that define me: are spontaneous, adventurous, thirsty for discovery, enthusiastic and always on the go. Travelling is a passion that allows me to discover the beauty of the whole world and the different cultures that inhabit it, as well as meet incredible people along the way. The idea for this blog and travel planner was born during my travels. I noticed that on the one hand, I had a lot of questions about travelling alone, especially as a woman, and on the other, I had a lot of tourist-related questions about where to go and what to visit, so I decided to launch Maelys' Travels to bring it all together.
