I'm Sara, a roaming ‘gastronome’ (it’s true, I hold a Master’s Degree in Gastronomy). I am on a consent quest for unique inspiring food and beverages while celebrating the producers that make them, learning as much as possible about the cultures and regions I visit. Have a soft spot for well-crafted… well, anything --.Hailing from Australia, but currently savouring life in Northern Italy (a particularly good launch pad, in my opinion), I've mastered the art of blending philosophy with a fork. My travel philosophy? Didactic adventures. In my world, an ideal day in a new city involves coffee, bakery treats, bikes, a leisurely lunch, art exploration, bar-hopping, and perhaps a dip in a local pool (yes, I've got a list for that) local food. I have a little something to suit everyone and am versatile and adaptable when it comes to travel budgets, be it my own or others. You can find me anywhere from luxury to real-life affordability. In the rare weeks when my suitcase is stashed, I'm busy planning the next trip to visit a producer I have longed to meet, cooking or scouring antique markets for treasures (mainly spoons). If you haven’t found me in one of these activities, it is because I am tapped into academics; either developing my thesis research on the social culture of coffee or absorbing other academic papers that pique my interest. As for many people around the globe, my favorite hobby is looking forward to book a trip! I just love spending hours in creating perfect travel itinerary with all the details covered and all the needs met! With experience in tourism high - school and college education, tourism jobs in Dubrovnik area, one of the tourist centres of Croatia from young age, meeting a lot of tourists and understanding their wishes and needs, making international friendships, being a tourist through the whole Europe area, I have collected a lot of knowledge how to make your next trip perfect and totally suitable for you! I usually travel solo or with couple of people, but also have experience in creating trips for larger groups and couples. I moved to Madrid, Spain in summer 2021 from San Francisco, California. I came to Spain for the first time in 2019 and quickly fell in love with the place. I quickly decided to relocate here permanently. I love showing friends around new places that seem to be cropping up every day here. In my first 9 months here, I had 15 friends visit me from abroad (mostly the US) and afterwards, in the interest of efficiency, I wrote a 5-page informal Google Doc to share amongst my friends. This quickly morphed into a more comprehensive guide that I've posted on Thatch. I continue showing friends, family, and friend of friends around Madrid. I've hosted upwards of 30 visitors now including friends with babies, vegetarians, and quick day trippers.
