Italian curious traveller - discovering new places is my favorite hobby! My name is Giorgia, I grew up in Italy and spent my whole childhood travelling around with my family. After high school I got the opportunity to go study in the US while being on a softball scholarship and of course I had to take it :) I spent two years there, until last summer I decided to follow my dreams and share my passion for travelling with others - I am now a licensed tour leader in Italy and I studied travel designing to prepare custom itineraries! I love both city sightseeing and hiking (with my dog), so I like trips that combine those two things. One thing I really enjoy is taking photos when I explore a new city. I'm particularly fond of using film cameras, though I'm still learning and improving. My travel style is solo female, group travel, low-budget, backpacker friendly and adventurous, that includes camping in the mountains or at beautiful beaches, doing sporty activities, exploring vibrant city nightlife and get to know locals with their food and culture. When I plan a trip, I love to research a lot, to be prepared for any kind of situation and also not to miss out on an amazing opportunity. I love surfing and often travel to test different beaches and spots. Our environment and nature is very important for me and I would always opt for slow and sustainable travel when possible. To most of the places in Europe I went by train or bus, so I know a lot of hacks and routes for this form of transport. I also don't eat meat, so testing all countries for their veggie foodie heavens!

Hi, I'm Maëlys and I've always had a passion for travel. From a very young age, I've been immersed in the world of travel. Following my studies in the tourism sector and my ever-increasing desire to leave home, I decided to take the plunge into the unknown in 2022. I set off with my rucksack to Central America, with nothing planned and travelling solely by public transport. All in all, 8 months of travelling, 6 countries crossed, a few voluntary jobs and a lot of memories. Since then, I've also visited some of Europe's capital cities and I don't intend to stop there. The words that define me: are spontaneous, adventurous, thirsty for discovery, enthusiastic and always on the go. Travelling is a passion that allows me to discover the beauty of the whole world and the different cultures that inhabit it, as well as meet incredible people along the way. The idea for this blog and travel planner was born during my travels. I noticed that on the one hand, I had a lot of questions about travelling alone, especially as a woman, and on the other, I had a lot of tourist-related questions about where to go and what to visit, so I decided to launch Maelys' Travels to bring it all together.
