Sedona, Arizona is excruciatingly beautiful, but also quite expensive and, frankly, somewhat overhyped. As a local, I don't want you to leave disappointed. This guide includes my insights on how to do Sedona right. 

For example, some restaurants are worth the splurge. . .others aren't. Some hikes are overcrowded, but can be timed right and must not be missed. Others should be skipped altogether. Follow my insider tips and tricks to have the best Sedona vacation possible.

For the past couple of years, Sarah, my best friend from college, and I have planned a girls trip in the winter months. It's one of my favorite weekends of the year. This year's trip was to Sedona, Arizona over the first weekend in March! 

Unfortunately, we got a little unlucky with the weather as it snowed 8 inches the night before we flew. They typically only get a couple of inches all winter so unfortunately, it meant it was too wet to hike most of the area. 

But we didn't let a little snow hold us back! We still tried a few hikes and explored the area. Here's everything we did over three days in Sedona. Everything in this guide has been tried and vetted by yours truly!

Girls Weekend in Sedona, AZ

Have you been to Arizona? It's a magical place! This 8-day guide (including travel days) details a route with a quick stop to Grand Canyon NP, hiking, canyons, popular photo spots, Havasu Falls, and a round of golf.

Ultimate 8-day adventure through Arizona

Escape the hustle and bustle of Phoenix and head north about 2 hours to Sedona, AZ. Known for the gorgeous red rocks and great hiking, it is the perfect spot for a quick weekend getaway.

It is highly recommended to visit in the early spring or fall to avoid the heat midday. I've visited in both May and January, each experience being totally different but, still enjoyable. If you visit in the winter months, plan to see snow (yes it snows in Arizona). 

A Weekend in Sedona, Arizona

Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village

Named after a small Mexican city, this charming shopping and dining center looks like a south-of-the-border village, too. It features numerous art galleries, jewelry shops, and other high-end boutiques. Flamenco music and dancing, Day of the Dead celebrations and Christmas season lighting ceremonies, are just a few of the events held every year at Tlaquepaque.

Similar to the trail heads, parking here was very tight.
