"Copenhagen City Hall is the seat of the municipal council and mayor of the municipality of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located on Town Hall Square, in the center of Copenhagen.
The current town hall was designed by architect Martin Nyrop, inspired by the town hall in Siena, Italy. Construction of the building began in 1892 and it was inaugurated on September 12, 1905. Before the town hall moved to its current location, it was located in Gammeltorv/Nytorv. The first town hall was used from around 1479 until it burned down in the great Copenhagen Fire of 1728.
The second town hall was built in 1728 and was designed by J.C. Ernst and J.C. Krieger. It burned in the Copenhagen Fire of 1795. It was not until 1815 that a new town hall, designed by C.F.Hansen, was built in Nytorv. It was intended to house the town hall and a court. Today it is still in use as the Copenhagen City Court."
