"The Dubai Frame, known in Arabic as برواز دبي, stands as a remarkable observatory, museum, and monument located in Zabeel Park, Dubai. It holds the title of the largest frame in the world, reaching a height of 150.24 meters and a width of 95.53 meters. This architectural marvel offers visitors panoramic views that encapsulate the contrasting landscapes of old and new Dubai, making it a unique vantage point for experiencing the city's evolution. Conceived by architect Fernando Donis through an international design competition, the Dubai Frame was completed by Hyder Consulting and opened its doors to the public in January 2018. The structure serves not only as a viewing platform but also features a museum that narrates Dubai's rich history and offers a glimpse into its future. The museum utilizes special effects to provide an engaging journey through time, showcasing Dubai's transformation from a modest fishing village to a modern metropolis. The design of the Dubai Frame adheres to the proportions of the golden rectangle, symbolically framing the city’s past, present, and future. Visitors can enjoy a glass-bottomed observation deck that connects the two towers of the frame, providing a thrilling view down to the ground nearly 150 meters below. With a capacity to accommodate 200 visitors per hour, groups of 20 are guided through various augmented-reality stops that enhance the experience. However, the Dubai Frame's history is not without controversy. After winning the design competition, Donis alleged that his intellectual property rights were violated when Dubai Municipality unveiled a redesign that significantly deviated from his original concept. This led to a legal dispute regarding copyright ownership, with claims that Donis was not compensated or credited for his design, despite its construction. Despite these controversies, the Dubai Frame has become a key landmark in Dubai, showcasing the city’s heritage while simultaneously celebrating its futuristic aspirations.
