"Once the private residence of 1950s socialite Marjorie Merriweather Post nestled on 25 lush acres. A prominent figure in American society, Post was a successful businesswoman and philanthropist, known for her significant contributions to the arts and her role in preserving Russian cultural heritage. The estate features a Georgian mansion filled with classic brickwork, a hipped roof and grand entranceways. Inside, admire an array of European and Russian decorative arts that reflect Post’s refined taste. Be sure to check out the collection of Fabergé eggs, decorative art pieces created by jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé. These intricately designed eggs, made from precious materials such as gold, were originally created for the Russian royal family. Hillwood is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, 10am-5pm, with both guided and self-guided tours available. Admission tickets can be purchased online for $18 for adults, with discounts for seniors and students."
