Vietnamese food is definitely a big part of the culture.

Vietnam Ultimate Guide Map +125 Places

This is a map of all the places I went to on my 3 month backpacking trip. 

We flew into Bangkok then island hopped in south Thailand for 2 weeks before flying up to Chiang Mai to explore north Thailand for 2 weeks. Next stop was northern Laos for just over 2 weeks where we got the slow boat from Thailand to Luang Prabang. After Laos was an overnight bus to Hanoi in northern Vietnam where we worked our way down to the south over 3 weeks. Finally finishing in Cambodia for 3 weeks and then bus back to Bangkok to fly home. 

This map includes recommendations of things to do, places to stay and restaurant recommendations too. 
I have added in information about the visas, currency, how to get around and important tips and tricks we learnt along the way.

You can fit in a lot less than you think when backpacking so this is a realistic map of what is achievable in 3 months.

Planning:
• Organize the bare minimum and leave room for spontaneity

The true birth place of the egg coffee, opened by Mr Giang himself in 1946, currently owned and ran by his son! This quaint cafe, hidden in a small alley in the Old Quater of the city is easily the most popular cafe specialising in egg coffee within the capital! We visited this cosy cafe at the end of our Hanoi local food tour and as expected the egg coffee was incredible!

Home of the ORIGINAL famous Egg Coffee! Stop here for a nostalgic feel and bustling Vietnamese cafe.

While this wasn't our favorite egg coffee in Hanoi, it was still really good and definitely worth a visit for the experience. 

Tip: Try the salted cream coffee here. We think it was actually better than the egg coffee at this cafe!

Hanoi is famous for its egg coffee and this shop is one of the OGs. Its strangely amazing and fluffy and its one of those things that you just gotta try out for yourself. 

I love their condensed milk coffee! Honestly, you can't go wrong ordering this at any coffee shop. Not a big fan of the egg coffee but you should definitely try.

Another option for Egg Coffee or any other coffee, this place is a popular stop for many coffee lovers since it first began in 1946. 

Inventor of the egg coffee or not; their egg coffee is amazing and the café feels like you're stepping back in time.  

Such a legacy this location! Always busy and buzzing with a tonne of energy and caffeine zing 🤩
