"Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, also known as Wat Khaek or Uma Devi Temple, is a historic Hindu temple located on Silom Road in the heart of Bangkok. This over-100-year-old temple is situated amidst one of the city's busiest business districts, offering a tranquil escape for devotees and visitors alike. The temple is primarily dedicated to Goddess Mariamman, a prominent deity in Hinduism known for her association with mercy, healing, and protection. The temple's name, "Wat Khaek," reflects the local Thai term for Hindu temples, while "Uma Devi" is another reference to the goddess, who is revered as the consort of Lord Shiva. The temple's architectural style is deeply influenced by South Indian traditions, particularly from the Tamil Nadu region, and combines elements of Chola and Pallava designs. Inside the temple, Sri Maha Mariamman stands as the central deity, surrounded by statues of other major Hindu gods and goddesses, including Lord Ganesh, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, Lord Thendayuthapani, and Goddess Mahalakshmi, as well as Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Kali.
