"This temple serves an important role in Korean Buddhism by acting as the head temple of the Jogye order. Jogyesa Temple's Dharma hall represents the main venue for several Buddhist events, holding ceremonies, rituals, lectures and other events yearly. The annual Lantern festival that celebrates Buddha's birthday is one of the most well known events and is the time when you can see all the lanterns lit up at this place.
The main sights of the temple are the 3 gigantic buddha statues and the 10-story high stupa.
When to visit?
Visit one of Seoul's most historic temples that dates back to the 14th century. If you're in Seoul for Buddha's birthday, this temple holds a lantern festival which is worth checking out at night! It's free to visit and when you go at night there's barely anyone there! "
