Zurich is not Switzerland's capital city, but it is Switzerland's largest city (and my current home). Here you will find Switzerland's main airport and train station. Zurich is known for being a hub to international banking, worldwide businesses, and transportation. Located on the northern end of Lake Zurich, this city is both urban and chic, as well as quaint and peaceful, providing the perfect balance and a great place to visit.

2024 Edition! This is the ultimate 7-day itinerary for Switzerland if you want to travel by car. It is a perfect mix of hiking, beautiful villages and viewpoints. You will see some of the most impressive regions such as Zermatt, Lauterbrunnen or Lucerne.
We have been living in Switzerland since 2017 and have explored a lot! We want to share our knowledge so you can have the best experience. 
This guide also requires some driving as we have included Zermatt. We know that most people want to see the Matterhorn, so we wanted to find a way for you to see that and also some other iconic spots. This guide also starts and ends in Zurich.
This guide is only possible in summer or fall! In winter the alpine roads are closed and some of our spots are inaccessible!
The recommended months are mid June - mid September.

We show you the absolute highlights of Switzerland. It is hard to fit everything into a 1 week route, so we have chosen the best of the best. If you have more time to visit, we also plan an other 2 or 3 week itineraries.

Frau Gerolds Garten

This is definitely a local favorite for me! This cute modular city garden has its own utility garden, fresh cuisine, small shops, and art. It gives beer garden vibes, with its outdoor seating and walk up bars. 

It is not a proper restaurant but a beer garden. They have a grill and they also have some streetfood vendors from time to time. The ambience is great but could be packed during weekends.

Frau Gerolds is a nice place for eating out. It is in a more alternative district of Zurich, so the people are usually more open.  

Go there in any season, for a great vibe in a hipster part of Zürich to have drinks and even have a bite.
