"One of my favourite activities was the visit of the Hospital in the Rock! The Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum is a hospital that was created in the caverns under Buda Castle in Budapest in the 1930s, in preparation for the Second World War. In the 1940’s, during the Siege of Budapest, the hospital handled the wounded and dead. The hospital was designed to treat 60–70 patients, but at one point, it was being used to treat 600 wounded soldiers! After the war ended, in 1958-1962, the hospital was turned into a bunker for chemical and nuclear attacks. It is now a great museum to visit! "
"For a unique and offbeat experience, delve into the depths of Castle Hill and explore the Hospital in the Rock. This former secret nuclear bunker, built during the Cold War, was transformed into a hospital in case of a nuclear attack. Today, it's a fascinating museum showcasing the realities of the Cold War era."
"Fascinating museum inside the cave system of the Castle hill. Used to be a secret military hospital and a nuclear bunker."
