"The Bibliothèque Nationale de France is a fantastic place for lovers of books and architecture. The Richelieu site was originally the palace of a cardinal from the 17th century and is now open to the public.
The building includes:
- a research library. You can enter the room only if you have a valid research pass, but visitors can stand just inside of the door to take photos of the murals, the ceiling and the detailed architecture.
- a museum with an extensive collection of artwork and original thought pieces. Entrance is €10. Collections include a plate from Hokusai's The Great Wave off Kanazawa and Beethoven's score. Definitely worth a visit
- the Oval Room. A free reading room that is open to the pubic. Books are all in French, and cover everything from fashion and encyclopaedias to comic books from around the world. There are 9 interactive digital devices installed around the room, where you can play games, try on period costumes and learn more about the collections in the room. While you are there you can also take in the amazing architecture of the room.
Afterwards, visit the bookstore, grab something to eat from the cafe or relax in the garden."
