" Lanín is an active volcano, located in southern Argentina and Chile. It has large glaciers on its south face. Those on its north face were visible until the 1980s, but nowadays they are almost completely melted. The volcano has an international tourist attraction especially for high mountain sports activities. Its ascent is relatively easy on the north face, being practiced from the access to Lake Tromen, on the Mamuil Malal Pass that joins the cities of Junín de los Andes (Argentina) with Curarrehue (Chile). The ascent is regulated by National Parks. Before starting the ascent it is mandatory to register at the Río Turbio Section for the north face and at the Puerto Canoas Section for the south face."
