"Guimarães, birthplace of the first Portuguese king Afonso Henrique, is a beautiful cultural city full of palaces, museums and monuments to discover. If you decide to organize a day visit you will not be disappointed!
📍Distance: 51 km
👣How to get there: It can be reached both by bus and train, but for reasons of convenience I recommend taking the train from Sao Bento station in Porto which will take you to your destination in an hour. The ticket price is around £3.
🎟️Ticket cost: the total price of your excursion will depend on the visits you decide to do that day.
If you prefer to take part in an organized tour I recommend the same excursion I mentioned before (see the link for prices and programme)."

"Travel back in time to visit this beautiful medieval town! Visit Guimarães Castle with its sweeping city views as well as the restored Dukes of Bragança Palace, built in the style of a French chateau. Lots of photo ops. "
