What people say

"The snowy Black Forest is picturesque enough come wintertime, but this market in the middle of it – at the base of the 130-foot-high viaduct – manages to be even more Instagram-worthy. Get off at Hinterzarten or Himmelreich station and take a free shuttle bus to the market, where you'll find stalls selling handmade Christmas wares and food such as Schäufele (smoked pork shoulder) and Käsespätzle (egg pasta with cheese). Feast on even more at the nearby Hofgut Sternen Inn, where the German poet Goethe once stayed. "
"Once here, you'll have two hours to enjoy the Christmas market. Be sure to bring PLENTY of cash for some obligatory German Glühwein plus some traditional Christmas treats. There is also plenty of shopping from local vendors, and a short trail leading to a lookout point over the gorge. "
