Francesca Lallement
"Odescalchi Castle is Bracciano’s top attraction and one of the best castles I’ve visited. Having been remodeled and renovated several times, displays in the castle represent 8 centuries of history. More than 20 rooms inside are decorated with amazing frescoes, paintings, and period furniture. Weapons are displayed in the armory rooms, the old kitchen can be seen, and there’s a huge courtyard. Climb to the top for beautiful views of the lake. You can experience first hand how a Medieval – Renaissance castle was laid out, how the rooms were divided, how they kept these grand rooms warm and lit, and more. The staterooms are situated on two floors connected by a stone spiral staircase (those with mobility issues should take note). It is fascinating to see how the rooms were laid out in the Medieval and Renaissance times without doors or corridors. You simply walk from room to room as through train cars. It is well known that privacy as we know now was considered in those times. -Opening hours: every day between 10 a.m. and 6 pm in the summer ( until 7 p.m. on the weekends) and between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the winter (until 6 p.m. on weekends). -Tickets: €8.50 for adults, €6 reductions.
