"OK we're very biased as Naarm/Melbourne is where we call home - but it's also our favourite big city in the world. Remembering it always was and always will be Aboriginal land, Naarm/Melbourne at times also feels like a big South East Asian city, other times the British and Euro influences are strong, and in other ways the city and its sprawling suburbs are quintessentially Australian. Yes think Ramsay Street and Neighbours - those quarter acre blocks, brick veneer houses and suburb as far as the eye can see! We love living in the Bayside suburb of Elwood and having all the attractions of the city close to us. So much of Melbourne's grandeur was built on Gold Rush money - we love the stone facades, arcades, laneways and European tree-lined streets. It is a beautiful city - and now one of the most vibrant multicultural cities in the world. Think different ethnic food, music and arts festivals every weekend! Oh and the best coffee in the world... "I spent 10 nights here with 1 overnight trip to Philip Island. Obviously that’s a long time to spend in 1 city but I definitely recommend staying here for at least a week. After such a long couple of days of travel to get to Australia, I was not really up to truly exploring until day 3 or 4 so staying here for a week gives you ample time to let your body adjust to the jet lag and time difference. While here, I stayed in Space Hotel and highly highly recommend it. It’s right in the center of the CBD and has an amazing rooftop with views over the city and is a great place to catch the sunset. "Known for its diverse arts, coffee culture, and Victorian architecture, Melbourne is a cosmopolitan city with a strong European influence. It's a haven for foodies, art lovers, and sports fans, home to famous events like the Melbourne Cup and the Australian Open."
