"The souks are probably the city's highlight and something quite different from what we've experienced before. Countless winding alleys, vendors with oriental goods, and a wide array of traditional dishes make strolling through the souks a truly immersive experience. Let yourself wander through the streets and consider avoiding Google Maps; we always managed to find our way back. If you want to buy something from one of the many vendors, negotiating is a must! The initial price is often more than three times what they would actually sell for. We didn't find the vendors pushy here either – we were warmly greeted and welcomed in the country. My boyfriend, with his reddish hair, was often dubbed 'Irish Eminem,' which brought a smile to our faces. We were probably there almost every day, getting enchanted anew each time :) And one gets accustomed to the many scooter riders who sometimes seem to be in a rush after a short while.""

"Souk Semmarine's origins stretch back over a thousand years, a testament to Marrakech's enduring legacy as a trading center. Here, Berber traditions meet the vibrant energy of the Arab world, creating a unique shopping experience.
Souk Semmarine caters to a variety of tastes. Begin your exploration amidst stalls overflowing with colorful textiles and traditional clothing. Imagine yourself in a flowing kaftan or a luxurious pashmina. As you delve deeper, you'll encounter high-end emporiums showcasing exquisite carpets, glittering jewelry, and handcrafted antiques.
The delights of Souk Semmarine extend far beyond textiles. Be captivated by the artistry of metalworkers crafting intricate lamps and lanterns. Delight your senses with the vibrant displays of spices – saffron, turmeric, cumin – their aromas filling the air. Foodies will find a haven of local delicacies, from fresh dates and olives to fragrant pastries."

"No entrance fee. For some people the souk can be overwhelming. The crowds, the sales people vying for your attention - but there is a beauty in the chaos. If you want to buy something always negotiate the price - it is not an insult, but a way of life. There should be some back and forth, but if you can't come to an agreement walk away. Note: if you are traveling to other destinations in Morocco, there may be locations better suited to buying particular items. Remember that Marrakech has always been a trading town so what they are selling has generally come from somewhere else!"
