"Oh Sydney, the ICONIC city of Australia and what many believe to be the capital (pro-tip, it’s not 😉). I firmly believe that there are two types of people in the world: people who prefer Melbourne to Sydney and people who prefer Sydney to Melbourne. I am a Melbourne girlie at heart but I know many who absolutely adore Sydney.
I spent 6 nights there but truly, you don’t need more than 4 nights. I stayed at the Wake Up! Sydney Central hostel and thought it was great. The rooms were huge and it was close to the train station, bus stop, and tram stop so getting around the city was super easy from here. They also have a location in Bondi Beach if you were looking to split your time.
One of my favorite things I did while in Sydney wasn’t even in Sydney. If you’re heading to Australia and want to walk away knowing how to surf, look no further than Surf Camp Australia. Located 2 hours south of Sydney, they offer 3 and 5 day surf camp options. They pick up right outside of the Wake Up! hostel and while there, you have 2 surf lessons a day and seriously, everyone there was standing by the end of it. If you have the time, I highly highly recommend tacking this on to your trip.
Other things to do in and around Sydney:
-Harbour Bridge (duh)
-Opera House (obviously)
-Manly Beach
-Bondi Beach
-Coogee to Bondi Walk
-Blue Mountains
-Botanical Gardens
-The Rocks
-Spice Alley"
