"Marathonissi is a small private island in Turtle Bay. The island was inhabited until World War II, but today it has no inhabitants or buildings. Now it is one of the breeding and nesting areas of CARETTA CARETTA turtles, the largest turtles that 70 million years ago swam next to the gigantic Tyrannosaurus. Such endangered species are highly protected and here you can see them live. The island is also famous for the last representatives of the Monaco seals. One of those seals has chosen one of the small caves of Marathonissi Island as his "Summer Residence", I hope you will be lucky enough to see him :)
You can visit the island by private boat or on an excursion.
On a private boat trip, I also suggested visiting the Kerì Caves, a few minutes by boat from the island along the coast of Cape Marathia.
💡 The Island has no snack bars, electricity, or anything to disturb the turtles; with that in mind, it's a good idea to bring food and drinks when you go there
