"Mt. Lemmon is WELL worth the hour drive to the top. The elevation is 9,159’ and is the highest point in the Santa Catalina mountains. Make sure to download the app ‘Mt. Lemmon’ before you head up, and you can listen to a little podcast that goes along with your drive. It talks about everything that you are seeing as you drive up and mentions certain spots that you should stop at. The only downside to this drive was there are some picnic spots where you could eat lunch but they require you to pay to use it. There are also campgrounds a little more than halfway up the mountain. They looked absolutely amazing! It is pretty popular for bikers to ride up Mt. Lemmon - they definitely have room but there are some spots where it got tight/people looked like they were struggling to stay up.. So be alert!!! "

"Catalina Highway is a 28-mile scenic drive that begins at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains on Tucson’s north side. The road starts at around 3,000 feet in elevation and ends at the top of Mt. Lemmon at around 9200 feet. You’ll start the journey in the desert among towering saguaro cacti, snake your way through mountain passes with grasslands and waterfalls, and finally end up in an alpine and aspen forest where it’s about 30 degrees cooler and often covered in snow in the winter months."

"There is a small mountain town at the top with shops and restaurants (they close at 5PM). So try to get there early so you can see the ski hill and grab a bite! PS: Expect a temperature change at the top! We went in April and there was still snow up top. "
