"The Montmartre Museum is housed in buildings that are three centuries old, the Hotel Demarne and the Maison du Bel Air. It was home to many famous artists and writers such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir who painted his celebrated La Balançoire. The collections of the museum belong to the association Le Vieux Montmartre, created in 1886, and contain paintings, photographs, posters, and manuscripts that depict the history of the neighborhood, its effervescence, the bohème and cabarets from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

"Once home to Renoir as well as Dali and Picasso, it’s easy to see why the artists chose the charming neighborhood of Montemarte as their residence and a source of inspiration. Walk through the museum of artist studios in the oldest building of Montmarte. These studios were the homes and meeting places of many artists, most notably Pierre-August Renoir, and are meant to be experienced as they were then, with art displayed on easels and antique furniture scattered about. Out back, the cafe and gardens overlook the local vineyards, Vigne Montmartre, and the plains to the North of Paris. "

"If you love Montmartre this is a charming little museum to see. Likely not a place you'd go on your first visit to Paris, but if you keep coming back I found this a good spot to spend an hour. It also has a beautiful little garden area, a cafe, and overlooks the Montmartre Vineyard which I am determined to taste some wine from someday! "
