"The noble and wealthy Florentine families were, at the time, in constant conflict to better appear than the others - and many architectural innovations can give credit to their existence, since they always tried to surpass in size, beauty and grandeur the homes of other powerful families. And it is precisely thanks to this "mania for grandeur" that today we boast buildings such as Palazzo Pitti and Palazzo Strozzi.
The Strozzi family, undoubtedly one of the richest in Florence until their exile from the city in 1434, was in constant political and financial conflict with the Medici family. After his exile, Filippo Strozzi worked hard to accumulate the funds that would allow him to regain his position of prestige and power and return to Florence. In 1466, he returned with a mission...to crush his rivals...and take revenge.
The appearance of the palace is similar to that of a small rectangular fortress with three floors. Although the interior has been extensively renovated, it is still possible to appreciate its original layout and external beauty, as well as the courtyard."
