"Moalboal is renowned for the Sardine Run, a spectacular underwater experience just 30 meters off Panagsama Beach, where the reef drops into the deep. Here, you can swim among thousands of sardines, along with encounters with sea turtles, seahorses, and a variety of other marine life. The snorkeling is relatively easy, despite a mild current, and during my visit in November, there were few tourists, making for a more peaceful experience. Snorkeling gear is widely available for rent along the coast.
In addition to the Sardine Run, Moalboal is known for its nearby waterfalls and canyoning tours, which, although I didn’t partake in, come highly recommended—especially for those seeking alternatives to snorkeling.
Another highlight is “White Beach,” a pristine stretch of sand perfect for watching sunsets. However, be prepared for limited shade if you plan to spend the day, as the area has few natural shelters.
Moalboal also serves as a departure point for tours, including the popular swimming-with-whale-sharks activity. However, this experience is based in Oslob, a location where whale sharks are fed and sometimes kept in nets. This practice has raised concerns regarding its impact on the whale sharks’ natural migration patterns. For a more sustainable option, Donsol is recommended for swimming with whale sharks, as they are not fed there, though sightings are not guaranteed.
The town of Moalboal itself is lively and vibrant, with a wide range of bars, restaurants, and spas, providing plenty of options for dining and relaxation."

"There are incredible waterfalls around Cebu and Moalboal. Rent a scooter and be prepared for a long day or two exploring some amazing falls in the area. We had gotten used to seeing the ocean looking so blue everywhere we’d been in the Philippines so far, but we had never seen such blue waterfalls before. They’re often referred to as "Gatorade Blue", which is strangely the perfect description!

"Surprisingly not overrun by tourists at all. Very peaceful small town."
