"A Japanese “Izakaya” hidden in the basement of a Midtown East Office Building. If only all speakeasy restaurants were this tasty. Sakagura (translated to Sake Brewery) is famous in NYC for it’s expansive choice of Sake . This was the best sake I’ve ever had in the USA. All plates are meant for sharing, so this would appeal to a date with a little mystery and charm or for a group of friends.
I’ve had the braised pork shoulder ($14), Sushi roll ($24) and Grilled Tuna Collar ($38), all fantastic. This works for tourists because while the food quality is elevated, the dress code is casual and the service is on-point without being snobby. A night to remember in Midtown for any occasion! They also offer a lunch menu which is an even greater value.
Note: Highly recommend you make a reservation on their website!"
